Proposed changes to Post-Retirement Insured Benefits
for Active and Defered Members in the OPSEU Pension Plan

On February 18, 2014, the Ministry of Government Services announced proposed changes to the eligibility criteria and terms for post-retirement insured benefits for members of the OPSEU Pension Plan, to take effect on January 1, 2017. Current eligibility rules allow all Plan members who have at least 10 years of pension service to receive these benefits at no cost to them. Although announced, these changes have not been finalized.

If implemented, the eligibility requirements and cost-sharing terms for these benefits will change beginning January 1, 2017; for complete details; please refer to the following resources.

Welcome to our local!

Our local represents members of the Ontario Public Sector Employees Union (OPSEU) who work at 5700 Yonge Street, North York (Yonge & Finch) as well as approximately 20 external telecom technicians who work in the field.

The majority of the members work in the Ministry of Health & Long Term Care.

Our local members work in the following ministries and agencies:
   • Community and Social Services,
   • Children & Youth Services
   • Health and Long-Term Care
   • Health Services I&IT Cluster
   • Government Services
   • Infrastructure Technology Service (ITS)

Our Local has close to 400 Full Time members, stewards from each of the ministries and agencies it represents and a 5 person executive and 31 stewards.
